More information

Diving in the Red Sea is an unforgettable experience and Egypt is the number one diving destination for UK divers for a very good reason! Consistently ranked in the top ten diving destinations in the world, it is reachable in around 5 hours from the UK. With sunshine throughout the year and some of the world’s most incredible reefs and wrecks, it's got to be seen to be believed. Egypt is not just a dive destination, with its rich history and culture take a day or two out of the water to combine an incredible historic sites such as the Pyramids of Giza, the Egyptian Museum and Abu Simbel Temple, or take on the sand dunes on a quad bike, or the back of a camel or take a relaxing on a cruise up the Nile to see the Valley of the Kings.

The main resort areas within the Egyptian Red Sea are:

Sharm el Sheikh - This is the most popular destination for divers. Over the years Sharm has grown in to a large and vibrant city. It has some of the most varied dive sites and is home to the famous Ras Muhammed National Marine Park. It is ideal for families, singles and groups.

Hurghada - Similar to Sharm it is a rapidly growing town with many fine resorts. The diving here has plenty of reefs but has more wrecks on offer.

Dahab - Originally discovered by hippies this resort has a much more laid back feel and is more rustic then Sharm and Hurghada. Dahab is ideal for training and new divers or for experienced divers wishing to dive the Blue Hole and Canyon dive sites.

Port Ghalib, Marsa Alam - This is still a relatively new area not yet discovered by the masses. It is has some of the finest reefs and is perfect for families and couples. It is one of the few places where you can reach Elphinstone Reef by day boat, home to Hammerheads and Oceanic White Tips.

Taba - This is a modern area built around the marina with lots of 5* hotels and even a great golf course. Taba is great for inexperienced divers or those who wish to combine their holiday lounging by the pool.

Diving and Snorkelling

The Red Sea is suitable for snorkelling and all levels of diver and tastes, you can experience large schools of tropical fish some found only in the Red Sea, drift dives, drop offs, palegics such as oceanic white tip sharks, and even whale sharks, hammerheads, and manta rays, colourful coral gardens, wrecks and swim throughs.

Our chosen dive centre partners will collect you from your hotel and return you after your days diving or snorkelling. Many resorts have their own house reef which provide safe snorkelling.

For more experienced divers Liveaboards are a popular and a great way to see the Red Sea. Step onto your boat at Sharm el Sheikh, Hurghada or Port Ghalib and take to the seas for the chance to see the more remote dive sites such as Daedalus, the Brother Islands and St John’s Reef in the south or be amongst the first divers to jump on the Thistlegorm for the morning dive.
